How Ads Affect Adolescent Wsasitlines

A recent study has found that obese adolescents are more likely to be familiar with television fast food adds than their less heavy contemporaries.  This is unfortunate, but expected as previous research has shown that food advertising (successfully) increases children’s preference for unhealthy food.

In recognition of this connection the UK has put limits on the amount of advertising food companies are allowed to make during shows whose main audience is children.

What do you think? Should advertising be limited or are there other ways of decreasing younger peoples’ consumption of calorie-dense nutrient-poor foods?
